IRONMAN 70.3 CALGARY

The Ironman 70.3 series is a half Ironman distance triathlon consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and a 13.1 mile run for a total of 70.3 miles. Calgary was fortunate to be amongst a select few cities to have the opportunity to host this high level event.

The Challenge

2009 was the Inaugural year for Ironman 70.3 Calgary, and so the event required full brand development and communications materials for everything from advertising and road signs, to merchandising and finishing medals. To help with the initial investment of materials, it was imperative that the event obtained sponsorship at various levels, particularly at the title level.

The Solution

Impello is the communications company that developed a unique brand character for the Calgary event. "Speed" became the overall theme for the event which is reflective of the three disciplines and the overall achievement of the Ironman. The brand character was incorporated into all advertising, marketing and merchandising components of the event creating an overall cohesive world class brand experience.
